Shelter Kitty of the Week

Meet Cookie!

Hi! I'm Cookie! I am a 6-year-old, weathered-looking kitty, and that's just part of my story. I am a sweet, but scared boy, having lived in a hoarding house for many years. I was actually kitty #40—the very last kitty removed from the home. I lived in the basement, and one day I happened to get into an interior storage room and hid. They were finally able to get to me and bring me into the shelter to get the love and care I needed. (They think that maybe chemicals got onto my fur in that storage room, and that's why I have some nakey skin down my neck.)

I am becoming more confident with people and will now eat licky treats off your finger, but I am still learning to receive attention from humans. I'm starting to check out the toys and start playing! I'm still really learning to be a cat, and so far I think I like it!

I would probably like to be an only kitty. I wasn't around a huge group of cats before, and it's a little overwhelming. I am a sweet, chatty boy who would just love a loving forever home.

Meet Junior!

Hi! I'm Junior! I am a super sweet boy, even as I am readjusting to shelter life. I was adopted as a kitten from the shelter a couple of years ago with my sister, Button. I was recently returned, at no fault of my own. My sister went missing from our "forever" home, and then my owner dumped me back here.

I am having a little bit of a hard time with the change. I am withdrawn from the wonders of life. I'm sad ... I'm scared. When people come to show me love, I protest. But they come anyway, and then the petting starts and I roll over on my back and show my belly. (And you can pet it, too!)

I need a calm and quiet home, with a human that will care for me and about me—who will love me no matter who or what else comes along. Will you give me another chance?

Meet Ginger!

Hi! I'm Ginger! I am a happy and lovable 13-year-old girl. I am super sweet, with mesmerizing eyes. (I am also a four-paw declaw.)

One day I was curled up in my home, and the next I was brought to the vet to be euthanized. I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid, and my owner didn't want to treat it. The folks at the shelter got a call to help save me—they didn't want to see me put down for something treatable!

I need medication daily, but the shelter people got me started on a regimen. Now I take a small pill twice a day with my food ... and I eat it like a champ! I am sweet, chatty, and an all-around great cat. I would probably do best as an only kitty.
