Volunteers are an important part of our mission to give every cat a chance at a forever home. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to save as many kitty lives.

Volunteering looks great on a college application or job resume, but it’s also a great way to give back to your community. There are many opportunities to volunteer your time to the shelter:

  • Cat care

  • Community Outreach

  • Crafting

  • Events

  • Fostering

  • Fundraising

  • Gardening

  • Vet transport

Join us at the Volunteer Open House to learn more about these opportunities. (The Open House will be held outside at the shelter.)

To become a Purrfect Cat Rescue volunteer, please fill out our volunteer form online or come to the Open House.

Saturday, May 8 | Anniversary Celebration at Jax Auto & Tire
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Come say hello to us and help us celebrate Jax Auto & Tire's 5-year anniversary on Saturday! It's gonna be a great time! Jax Auto & Tire is just a few buildings down from us north on Rt 31 — 5220 S. Route 31 in Crystal Lake.

We will have a table with information on adopting your next purrfect cat or kitten, and we’ll also be selling water and soda. (The drink are being donated by Jax Auto & Tire so all sales go directly back to Purrfect Cat Rescue! Thank you, Jax!)

11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Come on out to Thomas’ Tails in Crystal Lake for our monthly nail trim program — $5 trims for any animal and the proceeds go back to Purrfect Cat Rescue.

April 1 - April 30 | Kitten Season Supplies Drive
For the month of April, help us prepare for “kitten season” by donating an item from our Wish List. Last year, from May through December, the shelter took in about 350 kittens. That means we need a lot of kitten food, litter, and supplies to care for all these little fur-babies to come. (View our Kitten Season flyer here.)

We will be in need of the following items:

  • Wet Kitten Food

  • Dry Kitten Food

  • Clay Litter

  • Paper Towels

  • Foster Homes — Lots of kittens means lots of extra hands and homes while the kittens grow

Come on out to Purrfect Cat Rescue and grab a carrier for $5 each. We have so many available — large, small, plastic, soft-sided, etc. (First come, first served.) The shelter is located at 318 N. Route 31, Crystal Lake, IL 60012

Friday, February 26 | Kitty BINGO on Zoom!
Spend a fun night in with Kitty Bingo to benefit Purrfect Cat Rescue. Tickets are good for 2 Bingo games. Games will be co-hosted on Zoom with local group McHenry County Vegans. After purchasing a ticket, you will be emailed the link to the Zoom event and your Bingo cards.
